September 27th – Norfolk exclusive day tour
A group of regulars joined me for a days birding on a Norfolk exclusive day tour . The conditions from mid-morning were testing with heavy rain showers so we took advantage and shelter in the hides at Titchwell, but had time for a walk along the autumn trail before we headed for the hides. We rounded the day off in afternoon sunshine at Holme with a seawatch and a look around the Observatory and pines at Holme.
A good day with 76 species recorded the highlights were 19 species of wader recorded, including Pectoral Sandpiper and Little Stint plus a beautiful flock of c400 Golden Plover, a late Common Swift was a surprise. A close in shore summer plumaged Red-throated Diver offshore was also lovely to see.
