Norfolk 3 day Winter Tour – January 17-19th 2025
A three day winter tour taking many of the key Norfolk wintering species.
Day One – Cley-next the Sea, Holkham NNR & Shore, Warham Greens
Day Two – Lynford arboretum, Titchwell RSPB.
Day Three – St. Benets Abbey, Repps, Martham, Winterton & Sea Palling
Highlights during the three days were undoubtedly Shorelarks giving wonderful close views at Holkham, 5 Tundra Bean Geese in the Broads, groups of Whooper Swans in the Broads, lovely views of Velvet Scoter, Long-tailed Duck alongside the c200 Common Scoter off Cley, with a backdrop to several thousand Pink-footed Geese.
Both Hen Harrier and the Pallid Harrier, gave nice views on the first evening alongside 2 Short-eared Owl & a close fly-by Barn owl. We had a total of 29 Cranes, that included 3 different groups with a group of 17 Cranes giving outstanding close views out towards Thurne in East Norfolk. The final day also gave us good views of Hawfinch and Firecrest down in the Brecks.
