Day Two - East Norfolk B&B & packed lunch
Collection from the B&B at 8.30am, we will head over to East Norfolk where we will visit 2-3 sites throughout the day, we will be looking for a variety of birds, butterflies & dragonflies.
Dependant upon the date and weather conditions we will expect to see some of the following Common Blue Damselfly, Azure Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Large Red Damselfly, Scarce Chaser, Hairy Dragonfly Four-spotted Chaser & possibly Emperor Dragonfly, mid to late June Swallowtail & Norfolk Hawker.
We will also spend some time birdwatching and will expect to see lots of Marsh Harrier, plus Hobby, possibly Bearded Tit, Common Buzzard, Cetti’s Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Garden Warbler, Blackcap, Chiff-chaff, Willow Warbler plus many commoner species.

Day Three - West Norfolk & Breckland & packed lunch
Collection from the B&B at 8.30am, we will head over to West Norfolk where we will either be looking for the rare Scarce Emerald damselfly or Black Darter depending on the timing of your visit. We should also encounter Emerald Damselfly & a range of commoner dragonflies and damselflies.
We will then continue into the Breckland areas of Norfolk & Suffolk where we will look for Stone Curlew, Golden Oriole, Woodlark, Common Crossbill, Tree Pipit & Firecrest. We will also see plenty of the more regular woodland bird species. Providing conditions are dry and warm a good mixture of commoner insects will be seen.

Day Four - Mid Norfolk & packed lunch
We will start the day a little later with a later finish today.
Collection from the B&B at 12.30 this gives you the morning free to do some things of your own choice.
We will spend the afternoon looking for raptors, namely Honey Buzzard, Common Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, Hobby, Sparrowhawk & Kestrel. We will walk along the River Wensum looking for Banded Damoiselle & Brown Hawker. It is sometimes possible to see Otter scats & prints at this locality.
We will then have a light snack before continuing late into the evening looking at Nightjar & Woodcock. If you are interested we will also run a moth trap at either a heathland or ancient woodland site. We will finish around midnight if running the moth trap or 11.00PM if not.

Day Five - North Norfolk & packed lunch
Collection from the B&B at 9.00am.
We will start the day by looking for Montagu’s Harrier. We will then head up to one of the major dune systems where we will look for a wide range of orchids, including Southern Marsh, Bee, Pyramidal & Common Spotted Orchids. We will also be able to look at some breeding Little Terns & Oystercatchers, along with Marsh Harrier and an array of commoner wet grassland birds.

Day Six - North Norfolk Coast & packed lunch
We will visit Hunstanton cliffs to observe the breeding Fulmars, and then Holme Nature reserve. Here we will be able to observe some bird ringing being undertaken. You will be able to see the birds being weighed, measured and released. You will have the opportunity of asking questions of the ringers and look at some of the fascinating recoveries and migrations of birds captured at the site.
We will then have a second opportunity of looking for either Honey Buzzard or Montagu’s Harrier - if we have seen both of these successfully prior to today we will head on to on Cley or Titchwell reserves where we will spend the afternoon. We will see a good array of waders & warblers, and possibly some dragonflies as well.

Accommodation
Accommodation is based on a Bed & breakfast basis, the tour cost includes full english breakfast (or continental if you wish) & packed lunches, but excludes evening meals. Should you wish to stay for 7 days then we can organise accommodation for the additional days.
Transport
Transport in Norfolk Birding’s 7 seater is provided for all of the above itinerary.
Packed Lunches
Packed lunches are provided and included in the costs.
Breakfast
A full English breakfast is available at the B&B served from 7.30am this is included in the costs.
Evening Meals
Evening meals are not included, there are a number of local pubs and restaurants available within a short distance of the accommodation. Evening meals can be provided at the accommodation - details available upon request.
Exclusions
Reserve entrance fees and any car parking fees are not included within our costs.
Itinerary
We reserve the right to vary the itinerary to suit days with the best conditions to search for the target species.
Group booking discount*
Groups of 3 persons or more making a booking together will attract an overall discount of 15%, on the quoted price above.
Single person supplement*
An additional single person supplement of £125 is applicable to the total cost of this tour. However if you are able to join
a tour on specific dates it maybe possible to waive this charge - please contact us to check.
June 5 day itinerary
Day One - Mid Norfolk
Tea/coffee and light snack upon arrival late morning provided by Norfolk Birding.
Offload your belongings at the accommodation and then a leisurely start with a short drive to visit to a local heath to look for commoner butterflies and dragonflies with the possibility of seeing Keeled Skimmer, Southern Marsh orchid, possibly Marsh Helleborine (slightly early).
We will spend most of the afternoon at this site, and we should also encounter, Woodlark, Marsh Tit, Turtle Dove, Hobby and many of the commoner bird species.
We will also visit a site for orchids.
